MEMBERSHIP Sec. 1: Membership of this Association shall consist of "Active", "Life", and "Honorary" membership. Sec. 2: Active membership shall consist of Chiefs Of Police, Sheriffs, Superintendents of State and Provincial Bureaus of Identification and their subordinates, accredited identification technicians of all law enforcement agencies (in small forces where their is no definite established position of Identification Officer, Officers who do this work are eligible to become members). Prison identification officers, records supervisors (departments of correction), instructors, and heads of accredited institutions of learning where police identification is taught and the sole aim is the advancement of police science, and/or other retired law enforcement officers who were engaged in the identification field, have retired in good standing and have been members of this association for a period of three (3) years immediately preceding retirement. Sec. 3: Life Active Membership will be limited to all past presidents and to all active members of the association who have paid membership dues and assessments for the past fifteen (15) years continuously, and who shall be able to vote and be entitled to all the privileges of an active member, and shall be excused during their lifetime, from paying dues and assessments. The requirement of current residency in the State of Michigan or the Province of Ontario shall not apply to Life Active Members. Sec. 4: Honorary membership will be limited to anyone whom this organization wishes to bestow this honor.
A. May be nominated by any member in good standing Sec. 5: Any member of this association who is removed from his force because of a change of administration due to political reason, may maintain his membership in this organization, but shall not use his membership to obtain information which is restricted by the rules and/or policies of any force. Sec. 6: Any member of this association who, while under investigation for malfeasance, misfeasance, or nonfeasance of his official duties, resigns, or is requested to resign or discharged from his force, will automatically be removed from this membership roster. His dues for the current year will be refunded in full, if paid for that year. If the subject of removal or discharge thinks he is unjustly removed or is a victim of circumstances, he may re-apply for membership in the association. An investigation shall be made (by the board of directors) to determine the full circumstances surrounding the individual case. The decision of the board, whose vote shall be taken by a secret ballot, shall be final regarding membership. Sec. 7: Any identification officer who has retired from his force and has never been a member of this association, is not entitled to membership. Sec. 8: Membership in this association shall be limited to
persons whose current residence is in the State Of Michigan or the Province of Ontario,
excepting institutions of learning.
